Surgery for no insurance, any advice where to go please. thank you

Hello everyone. Have a blessed day! I am new here, my husband was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. The good thing is that when he had a ct scan, the result was clear. The doctor advised for surgery next month but hubby has no insurance. We know it will cost a lot. I just would like to ask for help to anyone who had undergone the same problem ( no insurance) before and where did you go for assistance. My hubby just got a job last August and still blessed because his boss allows him to take days off from work. The most difficult part is I am not beside him right now because I am from Philippines and we will start the process of my petition next week so I will be there with him if they permit. It is very tough for now for the two of us but never stop praying for strength and a miracle. I am a registered nurse in my country but I am not working right now because I'm preparing to take the NCLEX RN. Any advice from anyone is highly appreciated. Thank you so much and God bless.

This isn't something I know first hand about, but I would start putting in application for medic aide or what ever its called in your state. Its the insurance state aide and if you have cancer they will usually kinda fast track it in. My daughter in laws uncle had cancer and that's what they did because he had no insurance. Check with the social worker at the hospital on where you go to apply, also they should be able to tell you where to contact the different cancer orgs that might help. Hope this helps some. Good luck on your journey

Do you have any government hospitals near you? There is one in Dallas called Parkland and they offer government insurance to people who qualify. I am currently in nursing school as well and thats how i was able to get insurance coverage. I believe all government hospitals offer this insurance. Do some searching in your area and contact them. My surgery was completely covered as well as chemo , meds, etc.

I didn't have insurance when I was diagnosed because I was in my last year of my college degree. I got signed up with medicaid and went to MD Anderson here in Houston, Texas with no probelms at all! It was oddly easy! Good luck!
