    Swelling after radical hysterectomy

I just had a radical hysterectomy this past Monday. Good news is the onc said the cancer was localized and he feels he got it all, will confirm next week during my post-op follow-up when he gets the pathologist results. He said he took a lot of tissue out. It is Friday and my tummy is still extremely swollen. I was curious how long I should expect the swelling to last? What are others experiences?

Congratulations! Your news sounds very promising. You have been through a major surgery and so the body's immune system goes into over-drive from the assault so it may take a few weeks to get yourself back to normal. This is a common occurence but be patient and you will be good as new in no time, Carm RN.
