Tell us something about yourself. What are some of your favorite hobbies, pastimes, places to visit, etc?

I know one thing we all have in common is cancer. It's affected us one way or another. But we are so much more than just our cancer diagnosis, true it's a part of us, but it doesn't define who we are. So who are we really? I like to think of myself as a free spirit. I like to go where the wind takes me. Life to me is all about loving family, friends, new experiences and what we can learn from them. I love to dance, listen to music (all kinds). I love to watch movies, play board games, camping, museums, fairs, festivals and concerts. My favorite place in the whole wide world is the beach. I love art and am currently looking for a place where I can take painting (Acrylic or Oil) classes. I enjoy doing nail art designs. I like to read, mainly historical romances, self help or travel books. I love my kitty Lily. I've always been a cat person. I like to surf the net and use it to learn new things or find new things to do. I'm a night owl. I love taking pictures. What do you like to do? :)

I live w/2 furry monsters, also known as cats -- Grainne & Sterling. I am a voracious reader; I'm not happy unless I have my book w/me. I'm ashamed to admit I also watch way too much tv. I used to help run the programming for a couple of science fiction conventions and was chairperson for one of 'em more than once. I have worked some variety of customer service since my first real job -- I've been a phone rep, claims adjuster (workers comp), team lead and currently quality assurance (when you call an 800 line and hear that little voice tell you your call may be monitored or recorded for quality and training purposes -- I'm the one monitoring for my company...). I love helping people -- that's part of what attracts me to this site. Not only can I get help, but in some instances, I am able to help others. Fun question!

I am an IT project manager. I love to read, and will read everything and anything. I own more books and magazines then I could read if I lived to be 100, but I like to have lots of choices on hand.

I go to Science Fiction Conventions (in fact I met my DH at one). I have the greatest DD in the world, but then again I am her mother. I just learned how to crotchet which is very soothing. I love walking doing Pilates and Yoga.

DH and I go to Kripalu a Yoga Retreat for programs and treatments several times a year. It really helps us with healing on every level. I get massage and energy work after most of my infusions.

I'm on WW and lost 60 lbs before I started infusion therapy. still watching what I eat even though I've gained some weight, *sigh*

I enjoy going to the theater, concerts, dance programs and museums, One the main reasons I love living in NYC.

Well, I'm a scientist (geology) and work in the environmental consulting industry. I have a wonderful wife and two lovely daughters. But the daughters live very far away (California and Japan) so I really enjoyed the holidays when they were both home. We do get together most weeks on Skype. My wife and I share the house with the "Thunder Brothers"--two rescue dogs, Sherlock and Watson.

I enjoy fly fishing, camping, travel (France is great), reading, restaurants, and going to Renaissance festivals and Highland games.

I’m a retired accountant who made the decision to retire shortly after stage IV diagnosis when end of life projection was thought to be short. Got into a clinical trial for a targeted therapy and was able to see my first granddaughter born and to celebrate my 42nd wedding anniversary. Love to garden and used to host tours with my favorite garden being a railroad garden.

The medicine I am on makes me very sensitive to the sun so the gardens have pretty much gone away but I am in the middle of creating a model railroad in the basement; different scale but fun.

My wife and I walk almost daily and we are awaiting warmer weather to get back to cycling. She will retire in May and we hope to do some traveling then.

I'm a horror movie nut. I love everything about the horror genre. One of my favorites movies is Dawn of the Dead (1978). I've met most of the main cast from the movie including the director. I've met Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger) I've met most of the Jason's from Friday the 13th. I could go on and on. I go to this convention every year in Dallas. This will be year 7 for me. This year, I'm taking my daughter for the first time. She is really excited and I hope she enjoys herself so this can become our new thing to do every year together!!

My favorite thing to do is spending time with our family...... my DH and our seven grandchildren and our children. My DH and I have been married almost 43 years. We enjoy traveling, going to our countries beautiful National Parks, visiting our siblings. I look forward to planting flowers, herbs and tomatoes each spring, watching movies, going to our church and eating out at our favorite restaurants. On warm sunny days we love to eat lunch out on our deck, watching the birds and squirrels. I love my friends and we enjoy getting together to go out to eat and chat. Simple pleasures to enjoy in life are gifts from God! I also have fun making cards on the computer and also handmade cards. I was a nurse for many years, and I am retired now. I have a volunteer job making calls to shut-ins, checking on how they are doing and if they need help with anything. I have a sweet kitty named Molly. This group has been a blessing for me. God Bless all of you, and I keep you in my prayers and close to my heart. xoxo Nancy

I like crocheting all kinds of things including hats, afghans, house shoes, toys, clothes, purses, etc. I collect crocheting books and yarn. I would like to sell what I make on-line when I retire in a couple of years. I like researching my genealogy not only to find out their names but to understand their lives in a historical context and find biographical stories about them. Someday I would like to write a historical fiction book based upon my research into their lives. I like looking for extreme coupon deals and go out usually with a friend every Sunday afternoon shopping for the best deals when most sales start. I like walking my dog who I call my motivator because she begs for me to take her out every day and tells me off if I don't. I like swimming in my swimming pool in the summer. I live in the desert where the highs are over 100F almost half the year. I like going to cooler places such as San Diego or Flagstaff to get away from the heat at least once each summer. I also like visiting with friends and family, sitting by a campfire, going to church, and hiking. I fly to my hometown to see my parents and other relatives once a year.

Cindy, I should have mentioned family history/genealogy as an interest. What cultures are you interested in? Mine are Irish, Scots, German/Luxembourg, and French-Canadian. The French-Canadian is particularly rich due to remarkable record keeping.

Harry, My genealogy research is focused mainly on middle American history. I can trace many lines back to some of the first colonies such as Jamestown - mostly in North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania area. They mostly came to the U.S. from England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, and France. Several of my ancestors were in the Revolutionary War and after the war received land grants further west in Tennessee and Kentucky. Some were early pioneers in southeast Missouri before it became a state and I share some ancestors with Rush Limbaugh who is originally from southeast Missouri. Some of my ancestors were reportedly Cherokee (although not formally documented). Several were killed/scalped by Indians. Some were long-hunters (i.e., went on hunts for months at a time). At least one went on long hunts with Daniel Boone. Several were preachers. Most were farmers until recent times. Most were in the middle states (Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, southern Illinois, and Arkansas) during the Civil War and fought against each other. My great-grandfather was reportedly was a bootlegger in his younger years. Several of my ancestors died during the Spanish flu epidemic after World War I. My grandfather was in the Navy in World War II. My grandmother's brother died as a hero in the Korean War.

I am an Engineer in the areospace industry and have worked on both aircraft and spacecraft in my 30 years. It has taken me to some pretty interesting places, I have even seen and touched a space shuttl and seen both a launch and a landing (launches are much more spectacular.

I live with my wife of 10 years (Queen Tatiana here on WhatNext) our three dogs, Bear Lucy and Harley and our two cats Zoomer (who is helping me type this) and Matinda. By far the cutest dogs and cats in the world!! We have two grown stepsons.

I enjoy woodworking and have mad a number of interasting things. My niece has a solid oak rocking horse and my nephew has a Oak rocking airplane. I have recently been building copies of a rocking chair that belonged to my grandfather, the first version was donated to a charity auction and brought $1950. I also enjoy anything working with my hands.

My wife and I enjoy camping and taking the dogs out for walks. We frequently go to the movies.

@Peroll I do a fair amount of woodworking too. I used to build a couple people in the family something for Christmas each year, lately I fell of the wagon and didn't get anything built. I did build a set of Adirondack Lawn furniture and raffled off last year for Relay For Life. This year we are doing an Oak Steamer Trunk, and an Oak Jewelry Case.

I like to read, study the Bible, attend church twice a week, fellowship, meet people, & spend time with my girls and family. I prefer kids' movies but I love British movies. I love songs/music from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and I am most def stuck in the 80s. I daydream about owning a home that no one can take from me and a backyard/garden that is pleasing to the eye and makes me smile. I love to be outdoors but at the same time I am quite a hermit lol. I like to birdwatch and keep chickens as pets. If I could concetrate I could tell you more, but since I cant Ill stop here. :)

Greg, I have built a number of hope/blanket chests over the years including a couple that were auctioned off for decent amounts. I used to be in a woodworking group wit a couple of guys from my church. Ine of them had a pictire framing and woodworking business and we would use his shop and make things for his shop and the church. Too bad you are soo far away I would love to help you out.

If you like historical romance, you have read Posession . . . I know is overdone, but I am still in love! I love my two boys, three if you count my dog, four if you count the husband :) I want to know how you stay a free spirit. I have found that I feel a lot of anger, and not even for me. I am angry that my boys have to feel, well, whatever they feel, about this disease. I am angry they have to worry about my appearance when I meet their friends even, which is the most trivial of the worries. I have so many joys and things to be happy in. But I see them, and I feel resentment. Why do they have to go through this? Do you have any experience? Do you know anyone who does?
