    Uterine cancer maintanence drugs?

Any one on medication after uterine cancer treatment to prevent reoccurrence? Per recent discussions with a few I am left wondering about why this wasn't reviewed with me as a possibility. I believe I asked last year about it and was told no need. But I had a lot going on then so will have to ask again and why.

A lot has to do with the mutations or aggressiveness of the cancer and the stage. In my case although I only had one mutation I demanded a chemo after surgery as a mop up because i had found evidence of a reduction of more than 12% in reoccurrence by using Alimta..which is also used as a maintanence therapy for more aggressive mutations.

You know that its all a best guess situation based upon the data in hand at the moment. You need a detailed answer s to why they said no. Then you decide if you agree. If you have it in your heart that you need this then get it.

I'm on Metformin for diabetes, but my oncologist said it was also a choice to inhibit cancer.

I'm not on any preventative medication. I just have to see my doctor every 3 months the first year, every four months the second year, and every six months for years 3 - 5. I did have genetic testing done to make sure it wasn't Lynch Syndrome, which is linked to uterine and colon cancers. I don't have a family history since I'm adopted, so this testing was very much needed. Thankfully, I don't have any markers for my cancer being genetic. It was just luck.

I asked about medications as well and was told nothing was indicated. Maybe that's a good thing or maybe they were not well informed. Let us know what your Doctor says....

Hi, I have uterine leiomyosarcoma for 2.5 years now. I never have heard of preventive medicine to prevent recurrence. I know hormone inhibitors called aromatase inhibitors are prescribed to leiomysarcoma patients that have tumors that test positive for hormones. Please tell us what you find, thx.
