What a difference a year makes!

I just wanted to let my new friends just starting this journey what a difference a year can make.. this is a weekend of celebration for me. Exactly 1 year ago, it was Memorial Day weekend. I'd had my first chemo treatment (a/c) about 2 weeks prior. My hair was beginning to come out every time I washed or brushed it. My scalp was so sore. We had 2 parties to go to for the holiday weekend and I didn't know what to do with my hair. I was so depressed and kept thinking it is only hair, you are alive and should enjoy the parties! But, it was tough. That Monday, I asked my fiance to just shave it off, I was ready, the scalp hurt so much. Well, friends, it is one year later, and my hair is so thick and curly, I had to have it trimmed and shaped 2 days ago... but the memory is fresh, and I'm so grateful to be here to tell this story! Happy Memorial Day to all! God Bless!

I too start treatment for Advanced Breast cancer just before Memorial Day Last year. So happy 1 year anniversary to both of us. My hair grew back, as straight and fine as ever, the one surprise, I was/am going gray, and expected to be a silver mama, but no - most of it is my natural very dark brown.

So Happy for You!!!!! The same thoughts went through my mind this weekend. My Granddaughter got married on Saturday. I was so thankful to be there to witness such a beautiful event. My thoughts went back to a year ago -- I had just finished chemo and was in the midst of 35 radiation sessions -- I was shiny bald and had no energy. Yes -- what a difference a year makes -- my hair is full and has length and I got so many compliments on how nice it looked -- and I feel great. God is good!!!!!!!!!!

Congratualtions!! I am 1 year also. My hair had started growing back then I had the radiation to the brain in Nov. and out it came again. It is slowly growing. Right now it is salt and pepper and fuzzy! My hair is natural curly and for years when it is humid I threaten to shave it- chuckle this year cuzz it is already done . All have a great day!
