Do you have a YMCA? You might call and see if they have a Livestrong Group. If so, you can join for FREE for 12 weeks. You work out with trainers and other cancer survivors. It's a great group. I joined my local group back in January. I've lost 32 pounds and I'm officially a member of the Y now. And the best part is that I get to continue to workout with the Livestrong Group. You will have to get a medical realse from your Dr but that's it. Good Luck

My exercise plans were getting back to work. I have a fairly strenous regimine in working, so that got me back into shape. Just take it slow, I thought I could do a lot, turns out, not so much. My mind said yes, but the body said no.

      Good luck with it.

I agree with TicklingCancer on the LiveStrong program. It made a world of difference for me. (I am jealous of his 32 lbs weight loss!)
Our local hospital also offers the STAR program which is an all around wellness program for cancer survivors, including an individualized exercise program supervised by Physical Therapists.

Jan, You can also ask youyr Dr for a refreral to physical therapy where they can work with you to develop a personal plan to get you back in shape and do it safely. Once you have the plan worked out you can then go to any gym or YMCA/YWCA to continur your workouts. Good Luck.

pick out a local forest preserve and start walking..Did you know that people who adopt a dog from a shelter on average loose 20 or more pounds per year? Hint Hint..

Just walking will do a world of good and meditate while your doing it. I do both. Treadmill and walking my GSD shelter Dog or my Aussie Shepard shelter Dog..my gift to myself is exercise.

      All the best,
