what are the chance I have some kind of throat cancer

45 Years old male. History of alcohol abuse, LPR, some tobacco use years ago. Have had a mild dry sore throat for months. Pain in my neck but no lump and ear pain off an on. Throat feels better when I eat and drink. High anxiety. PCP says pharyngitis, dental screening for oral cancer was negative.

I am 95% sure I have some kind of throat cancer. I am terrified. Have ENT appointment on Dec 20th. Trying to prepare for the inevitable.

I know you cannot diagnose here, but do people tend to have symptoms they believe to be cancer or is it usually a surprise.

Thank you all for the support. I admire the courage that all cancer survivors display. I am not sure if I could do it. I really appreciate your thoughts!! I will update this after my appointment.

Thank you, we are a nosy crew, and want to find out how things are going. We wish you well. Sometimes it's pretty hard emotionally to update or we just don't feel up to it. I found it therapeutic to do this.

Many times we are left wondering what happens to people, so we greatly appreciate it.
