What do yu think of Noni Juice as a cancer treatment

A seventy year old man was diagnosed with prostate cancer. My grand mother a bush woman from Jamaica, started feeding him with pure unadulterated Noni Juice that she got from her trees on her land. Today after five years the man has no cancer tumor. Go figure! read this link for more information on Noni http://www.cancertutor.com/Cancer/Noni.html

Reminds me of that TV commercial...don't even remember what product it is for....where the two neighbors are talking about hearing stuff on the internet and it must all be true because it's on the internet. Snake oil by any other name is still snake oil.

Never heard of it, but many therapies (including some on oncology) got their start in herbal/plant medicine. Paclitaxel (now made synthetically, but originally from the Yew tree bark) was found by screening natural compounds for anti cancer properties.

Now, there are powerful monetary and humanitarian incentives to bring cancer therapies to market. Although not everything has been discovered, chances are that a natural remedy that works has been looked at. Also, although said remedy may have anti cancer properties, it may not be as good as what is medically used and can interfere with whatever therapy you're being given. Plus a powerful compound (I'd that juice is) in the wrong hands can cause more harm than good (for example, the bark of the yew tree was used to poison people).

      Dear Bundoskip,

I tend to look with caution on any type of alternative medical treatments. I'm a trained Medical Librarian. Back in the 1970's, people went to several towns in Mexico when they had colon cancer to be treated with coffee enemas. Needless to say, they did not work.

I don't think we have enough data on this 70 year old man to draw conclusions re Noni juice as a treatment for cancer. It would have to be used in clinical trials for a number of years first.

I do know because I have friends in the medical community of the sad case of a fellow with HIV who was dying and so desperate that he was willing to drink juice made from spider venom (obviously poisonous spiders) as a cure. Needless to say, the poor fellow died. It's important to not feel so desperate that regular medical treatments are forsaken in lieu of exotic and unproven ones.

      Wishing you the best,

I always look at this from the money side. If this juice truly did offer a cure, it would have a label, a stock symbol and a very happy CEO behind it. A cure for cancer is the holy grail of medical research and the pharmaceutical industry. We would be hearing about this from everywhere and everyone. Not just from the www.
