    what is cyberknife?

If my cancer recurs in the next 5-10 yrs, I was told that I would have to have another resection and radiation. Can cyberknife get rid of the new tumor without giving me another ear to ear scar?

Cyberknife and gammaknife are Stereotactic Radiation Surgery ot Therapy called SRS or SRT. I have attached a link that describes it. I hope this gives you some insight, Carm RN.

I have had cyberknife three times - two times on my right lung (to get rid of 2 separate tumors) and one on my thigh. It is non-invasive, no pain, and it works! Cyberknife is a very high intensity radiation that is administered by a robot (yes a big robot!). I went for 5 consecutive days (for a couple of hours or less each day - can't remember) and there were a few planning sessions before.

Other procedures I've had to deal with my tumors, outside of surgery, are RFA (radio frequency ablation) and crioablation. There is a new procedure called NanoKnife, and they're always coming up with new things. I hope the cancer doesn't recur, but if it does, there will be many more ways to deal with it. Good luck!
