Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there…to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be but you lock eyes with them, you know that very moment that they will affect your life in some profound way.
And sometimes things happen to you at the time that may seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles you would never realize your potential, strength, will power or heart.
Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of luck. Illness, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test limits of your soul. Without these small tests, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere; safe and comfortable but dull and utterly pointless.
The people you meet affect your life. The successes and downfalls that you experience can create whom you are, and the bad experiences can be learned from. In fact they are probably the most poignant and important ones. If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart, forgive them because they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart.
If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but also because they are teaching you to love and open your heart and eyes to little things. Make every day count. Appreciate everything that you possibly can, for you may never experience it again.
Talk to people whom you have never talked to before, and actually listen. Let yourself fall in love, break free and set your sights high. Hold your head up because you have every right to.
Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don't believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you. Create your own life and then go out and live it.

Philippians 4:13 and also a friend of mine told me one time when I was going for one of my mammograms "hand it all over to God and he will take care of you and it will be ok." and every since I say a prayer before I go and don't worry about anything. I do this anytime I go in for a procedure no matter what it is, or who it is for....

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. - Isaiah 40:31

Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. - Joshua 1:9

      23rd Psalm

...Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. - Philippians 1:18-21

My niece told me "The Lord did not give you this but he will give you the means to get through it" -- and I have witnessed so many "beacon lights" as I am traveling through this storm. I know that He is guiding me to sunny days ahead.
Also, "I can do anything through Him who strengthens me".
The theme of a Mission that I attended a few years ago emphasized that "I am precious in the eyes of God -- that He loves me as a child" -- and this gives me confidence that He is taking care of me.
I have great faith in the power of prayer and it is through the prayers of family and friends that I remain strong and positive. God loves each one of us and will not abandon us in our battle.

"Pray, Hope, and Don't Worry!" Padre Pio

Pray that you may have total acceptance of the Father's Will for you, and for His Grace to get you through the worst of your suffering. Don't worry, as it is all in His hands, and He will carry you through it all, you only have to ask with a loving heart. God Bless You!

“MY LORD GOD, I have no idea where I am going.
I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end.
Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you.
And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing.
I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.
And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it.
Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death.
I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.”

      St. Ignatius Suspice:
Take, O Lord, and receive my entire liberty, my memory, my understanding, my entire will, all the I am and call my own. You have given all to me. To you, Lord, I return it. Everything is yours, do with it what you will. Give my only your love and your grace; with these I will be rich enough and will desire nothing more.

      Also, Isaiah 40:28:
Do you not know or have you not heard? The Lord is the eternal God, creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint nor grow weary, and his knowledge is beyond scrutiny. He gives strength to the fainting; for the weak he makes vigor abound. Though young men faint and grow weary, and youths stagger and fall, they that hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar as with eagles' wings; they will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint.

My wife is a hospital chaplain and works frequently with oncology patients. She wrote the following for me when I started my radiation treatments and I read it everyday while waiting to be called for the treatment. This is a bit more specific than just for feeling low, but may be a comfort to any in treatment, and can be modified for treatments other than radiation.

      A Blessing for Radiation Treatment
You have come to this special place because you are having treatment for cancer. May this be a place where the best of human technology, human beings and the divine work together toward your healing and that of the other patients making this journey. As the Great Physician, may God guide the hands of all the caregivers to be channels of healing, love and grace for you! May the beams of radiation be directed at all the cancer cells, to destroy what is unhealthy so that what is healthy can grow and thrive! May God strengthen you for the journey in body, mind and spirit! May God fortify you with hope and humor and the knowledge that God will be with you where no one else can go. May the peace of God be with you today and always! Amen

İmining that the whole world is not Christian and the differences are something we need to embrace. I would suggest you a different reading. In Quran. İnşirah 16: It says whatever happens, happens to make situation betterç Even if you dont like something sometimes that thing brings you happiness. For example. you may not be able to get the job you liked but what you like may not be the best for you. Here the point is that God knows when something is really benefitting you but you don't!!!

Interestingly enough, I never turned to prayer. I say interestingly enough because I am a religious school teacher!!!!

My source of inspiration was the support I had from my friends and family. I have all the cards I've received in a box and I would read them all. I used FB as my support group and I would go back and read posts from my friends. I surrounded myself with only positive people. I have several friends who are survivors and would turn to them for inspiration.

And when all else failed, I looked at my beautiful family and knew that I had no choice but to endure the ugliness and as my mantra was..."Gotta do, what I gotta do!"

Then I would crank up Bon Jovi and dance and sing at the top of my lungs, "It's my life..."

      Footprints Prayer

      Footprints in the Sand

One night I had a dream...
I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord, and
Across the sky flashed scenes from my life.
      For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand;
One belonged to me, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of my life flashed before us,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that many times along the path of my life,
There was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life
This really bothered me, and I questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
      You would walk with me all the way;
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life,
There is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why in times when I
needed you the most, you should leave me.
The Lord replied, "My precious, precious
child. I love you, and I would never,
never leave you during your times of
      trial and suffering.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."
