What to do when cancer has spread to bones 11 years after surgery? Any dietary sugestions?

Want to know what to do about pain. Diagnosed Feb. 4/13. Taking xgeva shot, letrozole,9 anti estrogen ), 4 tylenol daily . I still exercise as much as I can. I am 79 and have lived a very active life until now. Have had more than my share of energy until last summer. I don't nap but really wind down after dinner. Am sleeping fine so far.

If the pain medications you are currently taking are not providing adequate pain relief, then talk to you doctor and ask him to try something else.

Pain from bone mets is better controlled with NSAIDS, so sometimes it is best to add advil to your pain meds. Consult your doctor or ask for a pain management consult so that your pain can be controlled and so your meds can be adjusted to complement each other when incorporating an NSAID into your regimen. Best of luck, Carm RN.

Cordy, See...Celebrex is an NSAID! blocks the COX-2 enzyme responsible for pain and inflammation. The COX-1 enzyme protects the GI tract so when you use an NSAID like Ibuprofen, you have to be careful that overuse does not cause a GI bleed because Ibuprofen effects both the COX 1 and COX 2 enzymes. However, Celebrex only inhibits the COX-2 enzyme, so it does not affect COX-1. In any event, I am so glad that you are feeling so much more comfortable. Best of luck to you, Carm RN.

Hi Cordy33 - I know this might sound weird to you, but I highly recommend meditation. It can help so much with the pain, the stress, anxiety - I have a free download on my website for a nice guided meditation that might help you. If you need any help with it, let me know. Here's the link: http://marnieclark.com/guided-meditation/ When you get to that page, just click on the words "White Light Meditation" below the picture and you can hear it. You can also save it to your computer. Hope that helps xox
