      Hi Corin,
I had bowel resections with my last two surgeries for recurrence. They healed up without incident, pretty much, and I didn't notice too much difference in recovery from when I had my hysterectomy initially. The biggest thing I remember post-op is no food or drink (except ice chips) until I passed gas - and it took me days! Walking helps to "get things moving" so I was walking a lot. They wouldn't let me leave the hospital until I had BM, which happened without incident on day 6-7 post-op (not painful or anything). All in all, not much different experience than abdominal/pelvic surgery without a bowel resection.
Good luck to you - I hope all goes well!

Hi, I had about 6 inches of my colon removed. It took me a few months to get back to normal and had to have a low fat and low fiber diet. Once I recovered things were ok again. It's not easy to go through just like any other abdominal surgery. Since you posted awhile ago, I hope all went well and you are recovering nicely.
