• Where and how do I get help?

Where and how do I get help?

I live close to Goldsboro NC. Cancer has taken my ability to talk well enough to be understood over a phone. I have given up driving for seizers. I am on my own and I have no way to contact help except email or text. I was in Hospice in Charlotte but after 2 months still have not been contacted from the local Hospice Pallitive Care here in Goldsboro NC. Any idea on help here?

So sorry I don't know of any resources. Maybe you can get a friend to call the American Cancer Society to check on your behalf for resources and explain your situation? If you have no one to turn to, I'm here for you. I'd be more than happy to help out. Let me know. Sending you hugs. Also, I've heard of phones used for people who are deaf that can allow you to text and it gets converted into words. I'm not sure if those are expensive though. Thinking of you and sending hugs your way.

You have a few options to look into. there is Voice Over IP referred to as voIP, there is an Alaryngeal device, there is the LifeLine system, but I think what might best suit you are AAC devices and there are about 5 different types where you can type and a synthetic voice vocalizes what you need. I am attaching a link. I hope this gives you a bit more information or at least steers you in the right direction, Carm RN.

Hi. I am so sorry to hear of your troubles. I volunteer for a society called Support for People with Head and Neck Cancer (SOPHNC) here is their website: http://www.spohnc.org/

There is a place where you can contact them via email, this may help communication. I have found them to be very supportive and helpful.
