Where have you found good hats/headcovers/scarves?

I am in the process of losing all of my hair from the chemo and I'm looking for more hats for everyday, sleep caps, and something to wear to the gym. I've bought a few daily hats from Target but I'm looking for something more - some simple cotton or silk caps or beanies. I know there are lots of online resources but I am trying to avoid paying for shipping but most importantly I would like to be able to feel it and try it on before purchasing. I would love any recommendations for stores to buy hats from but I will also take recommendations for online websites as well. Thank you.

I buy silk scarves from china on eBay for very cheap. This way I can give them away to others in need of a bit of a lift. They are generally around $1 with $5 shipping and so soft. I look at the persons feedback to make sure that they are of good reputation. I have not been disappointed at all in my purchases, I have given away a couple dozen over the last 5 years. I have a couple of patterns for soft hats that I have made in the past but the scarves are so pretty.

I bought my hats from tlcdirect.org. It's a catalog from the American Cancer Society. The hats are designed specifically for chemo patients. They are really soft and do a great job of covering your head because they are deeper than regular hats. I also got my sleep hats from them.

I agree w/Valpack. TLC is amazing. I also like a website hatswithheart.com. They are more expensive, but I got a couple stretch velvet turbans I love. The boutique in my local cancer center also carries Hats with Heart stuff, and I've picked up several more there. Is there a boutique in any of your local hospitals or treatment centers? I know at least 2 of our local hospitals have something. Good luck with your search.

I bought most of my hats & beanies at Walmart, found they were much more cheaper than Target & had a larger variety, I haven't bought any scarfs as it's been to cold for me to wear them. Best of luck to you...

      Dear ddkk3,

After checking the internet, I found a site that seems to have some beautiful headscarves including silk. They're at www.headcovers.com. You can either try obviously google or www.dogpile (a compilation of all the search engines in one) to locate these things and therefore be even more choosy. Amazon may even have a line of these. I'm sure they come in all price ranges and some of them even come with stocking caps (grippers) that allow them to stay more firmly on your head.

      I hope that's helpful.

      Warmest wishes,

I ordered a few through the TLC catalog as well, but I found ones I liked a little better in places like TJ Maxx. My very favorite hats came from friends. When friends from around the country would ask how they could help, I asked them to send me a hat that would make me think of them when I wore it. I'm famous for NOT accepting a lot of help, so this was an awesome blessing for me, and I think it made my friends happy to know they were actively doing something to help me in my healing.

If there is a place near you that sells wigs they can tend to have the scarfs and caps - that is where I got mine.

Loved these, did not wear any of my three wigs, some wear these under scarves to plump up appearance of a bald head, keep scarf from slipping.

Headcovers.com was a great site. I bought several turbans and put scarves thru them so I could match my clothes with my hats! A girl has to accessorize! I can't believe you are allowed to go to the gym. My doctors would not let me the whole time I was in treatment and it really sucked. That was one of the best days of my life when I got to go back!!!!!
