Why take tamoxofin or amrotaise when pre or post menopausal?

I have been reading a lot about this question lately. I had a double mastectomy and have been post menopausal for years. I was stage 0 non-invasive DCIS with 2 benign clusters in the left breast. None of my doctors talked about these drugs with me, what they were for and what they are suppose to do for women like me. Can someone out there tell me what the scoup is on this?

Tamoxifen and Aromatase inhibitors are only useful in breast cancers that are estrogen receptor positive. If your cancer was not ER+, hormone therapy would not apply to you.

They are used in women whose cancer was fueled by estrogen (ER+)... They are used to help reduce the risk of recurrence...
