Xeloda, Zometa, Aromasin - any experience of these for recurrent bc?

Ok, so the bad news is that my bc has recurred 4 years after the first time. I’ve had a double mastectomy, then was opened up again for a node clearance, then incurred surgical site sepsis. Fun and games.

    It’s a locoregional recurrence, 4/11 positive nodes.

The oncologist has recommended 6 cycles of oral Xeloda, with Zometa IV every 3 months for 3 years. I’ll also have Aromasin post chemo.

Anyone have experience of any of these for recurrent breast cancer?

I can't help with your question but I just wanted to say I'm sorry you've got a recurrence. Wishing you the very best.

I took Xeloda in pill form for rectal cancer for a couple of months. I don't know how it will be for someone with breast cancer, but I can say that for me it was very gentle compared to the infusion chemos I did later. My biggest complication was nausea, closely followed by exhaustion. I wanted to stay in bed all the time. I think some of that was the cancer too though because I had a fairly large tumor still at that point.

Thanks, Skyemberr, very helpful. I imagine the se’s are the same no matter what type of cancer. I’m quite glad it’s oral rather than IV this time
