I recently completed 6 monthly treatments with Xofigo and found it to be a nice break from the hot flashes and night sweats that accompany hormone treatments. Some men can’t handle all six treatments because their bloodwork dips to dangerously low levels; usually those men have already been through chemotherapy though. One gets an IV started, a bag of saline, a slow injection of Xofigo into the line, and another bag of saline before you get to leave. It’s all over in three hours. My bones didn’t ache too much more than they already did. My highly aggressive cancer did progress while on this drug, but the existing areas didn’t grow larger.
