JustForToday's Journey with Triple-Negative Breast Cancer, Ductal

I had 2 months of Adriamycin/Cytoxan therapy every 2 weeks with Neulasta injection the day following infusion. I had 3 months of Taxol on a weekly basis. Side effects for Taxol were less than those from the AC. My biggest problem was that I caught a cold during chemotherapy. The chemo kept me from recovering from the cold and it was 6 weeks of misery until I told oncologist I had to have a week off to recover. She gave me antibiotics which improved the situation, but the cough lasted for a full 3 months. I completed my final chemo infusion on December 26, 2017.

Surgery done 1/26/2018. The injection of the radioactive tracer to identify the sentinel node for women having breast cancer surgery is not pleasant. It seems more could be done by the radiologist for pain management. I was pleased that my medical oncologist suggested we remove the port used for chemotherapy infusion. When the surgeon learned we had difficulties getting blood return for the last half-dozen infusions he also felt it was a good idea. I am 2/3 way through my treatment. Just radiation left to go!

This was the final phase of my 3 part cancer treatment. It began with a chemotherapy infusion on 8/3/17 and finished with a radiation treatment on 4/3/18. This eight months was challenging and I am glad to have it behind me.
