This is what my house looked like upon returning home from my son and daughter in-law. Even pink pumpkins!

I am so sorry of your diagnosis. Just keep thinking it was caught very early on, stage 0. I too have had a mastectomy and reconstruction done and still healing but lymph nodes biopsies were negative. I wish you well and know you are not alone in this journey.

after the DIEP the surgeon left all except for an area the size of a little bigger than half dollar of original skin. Basically breast was hollowed out. It was really swollen for less than two weeks but after that it is firmer than other side but my plastic surgeon said he will lift other side to match after a couple months if I want. It looks like a breast though, just haven't gotten nipple and tatoo done yet..

Hi there, I had the DIEP flap done 5 weeks ago. It really wasn't too bad once the drains were taken out. Being able to take off hot abdomen binder was a relief too. I haven't had a bit of complications and no longer have any restrictions. My cancer stayed DCIS and didn't invade nearby lymph nodes so I need no further treatment at this time. Let me know if there are any questions I may be able to help you with.

With DIEP flap did your breast naturally look like a breast or did it take time to soften and shape into a breast?

I haven't had a bit of trouble, knock on wood, since surgery. Got two of the four drains taken out so far and go in tues for the others, hopefully. Healing nicely from the DEIP flap reconstruction. Can't believe no stitches, all glued shut. Glad to hear yours didn't travel either. We sure are fighters!
