I was given gabapentin but opted for frankincense and myrrh in a carrier oil. I bought it premixed on Amazon and it helped me. It really worked for me. Smelled good too. If anyone tries it I hope it helps as much as it did me.

@paintmare ... you are speaking of my perfume.

Seriously, I spray it over myself daily. I like it. Ive had comnents all the way from "Ummm, what are you wearing?" to "You smell like WFs market."

I told a fireman that I was wearing spices and confused the poor guy mercilessly.

I was taking 1800 mg of gabapentin a day. Yes, it HELPED, but Also, I was sleeping 18 hours a day. So it came down to pain relief or being alive. I quit taking it.

Please get a second opinion. May be alternatives that another Dr. would be aware of. And if this Dr. concurs with your present Dr. It would give you greater confidence.

Someone mentioned finding a support group. I am in Central Florida and I found this group "Breast Friends" and I know they are in other States and Cities. Look them up; they have really been a blessing to me and helping with my journey.

gpgirl70, re support groups and bad experiences - My support group, 17 years ago, was held where I was being treated - MSKCC - and was for non-metastatic breast cancer patients only; it was an adjuvant treatment group, so most of us were still being treated, but we could continue in the group for as long as we wanted. Those who had metastatic breast cancer did have a separate group. Both groups were run by the same two experienced social workers. In my group were women with every stage and type of breast cancer except stage 4.

I had bilateral mastectomy with expanders 2 years ago. The drains were the worst part. I have had no problems. I even had nipple tattoos done. I don't regret any of it. And the exchange surgery was easy. Good luck to you and keep us informed.
