"Let me know when you start to feel bad" OMG your oncologist must have the same script as mine. I also got a lot of doctor speak about "markers" I think they must have a playbook they look-up MEDICARE and find the "go to Lost Cause Scenario. I have found that you have to do a lot on your own. I get several Newsletters from two groups the most useful one is www.qualityhealth cancer survival. It always has recipes. They always include nutritional information. Now when I visit my nutritionist she asks me for recipes. All I ask her is what did the blood tests show that I was deficient. Then I make out my menus. I also bump-up alot of the recipes I find on the Food Network and other cooking sites. Is it working ? I got out of the hospital the week before Easter I had had a hysterectomy a month before (lots of complications on that one) I got the "Lost Cause" scenario six weeks ago. Sunday I hiked (with my cane) a mile a quarter of the way was up hill. Did it work? You make the call

I appreciate the feedback so much! I have been lifted by your words and thanks is too weak a word to represent my feelings. Tomorrow is "bloodwork/tumor marker day" and I can only pray that the numbers have seen fit to respond to the Nutritional approaches I've been applying to my situation. One interesting thing that BoiseB mentioned had to do with Nutritionists that will help you work with deficiencies based on your bloodwork. I believe therein lies the KEY! My previous experience has been with Nutritionists that give you a series of handouts about various diets (calorie goals, etc.,) nothing specific to the current condition of your health based upon the tale the bloodwork tells!
One more thing - I've been introduced to an Ayurvedic practice called "Oil Pulling". It's said to reduce toxins in the body via "swishing" 1 tablespoon of cold-pressed oil (e.g., sesame, sunflower, coconut) for 15-20 minutes once or more times a day. Has anybody had any experience with this? The stated potential benefits are quite amazing. I'm on day 3 of my trial with it. (update to follow).
