Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): With the new found knowledge of only 6 months or less to live if I didn't do anything and telling me Chemothetapy would have very little affect, if any,on Appendiceal cancer, my options were very limited, since my only other option was the HIPEC surgery which they didn't do in Utah. I tried for 9 months to get to MDAnderson in Houston but hit a roadblock with every turn. After 9 months I heard of a world renowned surgeon at University of Massachusetts - Dr. Laura Lambert- I placed a call & she returned my call within an hour- from then everything just came together. The 14 hr surgery was performed on June 26th,2012- I've hav a few complications from a perforated bowel- so emergency surgery for a temporary colostomy until my body and bowel heal- I also needed a neaphrostomy (Tubes in the kidneys) while my body is healing - The cancer has all been removed and just waiting for strength to reverse colostomy and take out the kidney tubes. It's been a long 4 months but have HOPE for a complete recovery by year end 2012. Thanks Dr Lambert for your expertise and for giving me hope and encouragement. Tami in Utah

Oh No (Cancer has spread/Metastasized): I was training for a marathon when I noticed a pain iny right lower abdomen- After a week of what I thought was an UT infection, a CT scan confirmed 2 grapefruit sized tumors. I was admitted and had surgery to remove the large tumors but it metastisized into my peritoneal cavity- They gave me 6 months or less to live. They also told me Chemothetapy would have very little affect, if any,on this kind of cancer. My options were very limited, since my only other option was the HIPEC surgery which they don't do in Utah. I tried for 9 months to get to MDAnderson in Houston but hit a roadblock with every turn.
