My situation was different. I had uterine cancer. During a routine Pet Scan, they found thyroid cancer. They told me this was a second cancer, unrelated to the first one.

      Dear Ali,

Things sound very hopeful for you, but the best person to answer your question is of course your Oncologist and you should not be shy about contacting him or her to do so. I am still considered a Breast Cancer patient though I am now 10 months Cancer free. Since I'm a medical Librarian (and on the site in that capacity) I'm not permitted to answer medical questions (sounds strange, I know), but for me to do so is to practice medicine sans license which is illegal, so I usually refer people back to the source, i.e., their physician. Med Librarians have other purposes, chiefly referrals.

I hope your doc gives you the news you want to hear.

      Warmest wishes,
      Aliza

It still could be colon cancer, but you would need a biopsy to confirm it. I had colon cancer that spread to my lungs. They started me on chemo and then switched to radiation because the tumor had shrunk so much. I lost 6 lbs a month from chemo(male, 5'10", 120lbs) and had no side effects from the radiation.
