Oh No (Health insurance issue): I have a new employer that does not have insurance plan for the employees. I first found the egg size lump in my left breast August 2012. I tried to get insurance but because I hadn't had all the wellness test done in several years, the insurance company wanted many tests done before they would insure me. So, I started the process and went to my family doctor on October 4. He quickly scheduled me for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound with the possibility of a biopsy after that. I went through the mammo and ultrasound and when the radiologist looked at those that day she indicated that the tumor has characteristics of a non cancerous tumor. The weight was lifted from my shoulders. But they went ahead and performed the biopsy to be sure. Once the results were received from my family doctor, they asked me to come in to talk to the doctor. When I met with my doctor he told me I have stage 3 breast cancer. That was October 21. My doctor scheduled an appointment with a local surgeon and through that surgeons office staff member I learned about a special breast cancer grant that will take care of all the treatments and I am eligible for the grant. Had to get a copy of my birth certificate to submit which has taken a month to get but hopefully this week I will get a final approval and will be able to get scheduled for surgery. I just started having some pain in my breast which concerns me and the tumor does seem larger now. Don't know what the pain means. So it is a bit upsetting and my emotions are fragile. Any advise is appreciated.
