Beverly....I only had one breast removed, but my surgeon left a "bit" of a clevage are for me...however I am lopesided shall we say VERY. you have every right to rant, and I think that most of us would hold your hand while you do it. There is nothing fair about any of this horrible disease. But thankfully I feel with a site like this one you will get honest and informational answers to your questions. A good plastic surgeon may be able to help you and it is paid for through insurace companies and it is not concidered "cosmetic" after Mastectomy for breast cancer.

Thank you! My first appointment with the Plastic Surgeon chosen for me at MD Anderson did not go well. He told me that at "my age" he would question the need for reconstruction. It was also suggested it might take "some great effort" to lose the 30 lbs. he would require before scheduling the surgery.
Of course the Center investigated my complaint, and called with sincere apologies. And the followed with a proper letter.
But I've not had the heart or energy to even do additional follow up care, much less seek another surgeon.
Needless to say, I have not shared this with many. I still feel the humiliation he intended.

Drug or Chemo Therapy: will need to come back and fill in the above in a few weeks. It was first thought that since I had a mastectomy I would not need any further treatments, however they found more cancer than they thought once the surgery was done. This has placed me from stage I to stage II or III. Now I must do chemo. Will start treatments in a few weeks. Must heal from the initial surgery a bit more since I got an infection in drain site that was left in a bit too long.

Procedure or Surgery (Mastectomy): there are days I feel like a truck hit me. pain and swelling in the effected arm. firelike pain in the chest above the inc site. looking in the mirror is like looking at a stranger. am large size, and finding clothing to hide the emply cavern on one side is very hard. But it has given me better odds at life...since they found more cancer in the breast at the lab than they had known was there.....so glad I decided to do the mastectomy instead of the lumpectomy
