Do you have long term side effects? I do, major difficulty in swallowing, lack of saliva, very dry mouth, Neuropathy in hands and feet, large scar from Peg Tube, developed a blood clot during treatment, thankfully it is walled off, had to have a filter put into the main aorta though to prevent it from going to the lungs or brain. Hearing loss from Cisplatin, lots of others that I forget about!

Doesn't matter though because I am cancer free right now, Have to go back in February for another Pet scan, but am hoping that all is well!

Yes, though it's only been about a year. Dry mouth, tried meds, they didn't work but doctor told me to try Trident sugar free gum has xylitol glycerin in it, and it helps for me. And with the enamel on my teeth being compromised sugar free is best. Do you have stomach issues, acid reflux? Found out that our saliva balances the stomach acids, so I'm on Prilosec to keep from having acid erosion. Neuropathy of the feet, lovely pins, needles and burning. Doctor is still looking into this, too many possible reasons for neuropathy, chemo, diabetes, alcohol, hypothyroid, all my years of commercial diving, still under investigation. I have two scars from peg tubes, accidently pulled the first one part way out and had to have it replaced, ended up with a small hernia in the second site. Hypothyroid issues, been on solid food since January, and keep putting on weight no matter what I eat, doctor keeps adjusting meds to counter act the weight gain, better change soon up 20lbs since Jan! Chemo Brain, well I believe that's a good/bad side effect, can't remember everything about treatment, but can't remember what every one did to support me during my treatment. I see photos of me with people at places I don't remember going. And did I really look that bad, why did my wife let me out of the house? I have had several follow up CT's but no follow up PET, doctor said too many false positives with PET scans after treatment. I'm no expert, I'll let him make the call. Good luck to you! May you stay clear!

    Hi Cathy!

Good luck with your treatment! I was stage 4 with the same thing. I am two years post treatment and doing well!

Keep your thoughts positive, believe me, it will help! If I can help or answer any questions, let me know!
