Clinical Trial (Erivedge (vismodegib) ): After decades of excision, cutting, recovery, biopies, this new class of drugs proved to reduce existing BCCs; prevent the spread of existing BCCs; prevent new BCCs from forming; and softened and eradicated previous surgical scars.

Procedure or Surgery (Curettage and electrodesiccation): EDC does not get the roots to stop the progression of advanced BCCs. The process is quick, but does not examine and attain clean margins in depth and width.

Procedure or Surgery (Mohs surgery): I have had over 100 Mohs surgeries over 4 decades, and due to the significant nature of the BCCs, the necessary surgeries resulted in significant disfigurement of my nose, facial cheeks, asymmetrical skin around the eyes. The surgeon was terrific, attentive, skilled. But the condition can result in noticeable morbidity.

I was just diagnoised with BCC on my nose. Having surgery May 17th but the person doing the surgery is a PA and been in dermatology for 14 years. Their doing surgery in office because surgen does not accept my insurance. Should I he concerned about him not being a surgen? The pathology said the cancer infiltrated the lymphocytic and histocytic what does that mean to the surgery and treatment I should ask about. Thank you.

Clinical Trial (Vismodegib; aka Erivedge): A miracle drug which prevented existing BCCs from growing; reduced the size of some existing BCCs; eradicated entirely 90% of over 60 BCCs; and has prevented a significant number from forming; prevented reoccurrences.
