this is a tough choice! i went flat, and i'm delighted with flatness.... just thought i would post for the implant-free choice as well. good luck!

I choose saline, I didn't want a foreign substance in my body after just having cancer removed. I had the first implant done the end of 2007 and the second one done the end of 2008, 2 different diagnosis. I have no problem with either one and the feeling is comfortable. It's your choice, like I said I didn't want another foreign substance in my body in case of leakage.

I opted for saline implants. They are fine, the right weight and I think they feel fine. They look good and I no longer have to wear a bra and my boobs stay in just the right place and have a very natural look. Silicone probably feels more natural but my husband knows I have no feeling on my chest anymore anyway so how it feels isn't that important - since he knows I can't feel him touching me. I just wasn't willing to put myself at risk for the problems I've heard about with silicone implants. It was one choice I could make to be, perhaps, a little safer. And, if they pop, I'll know it. Both options have pros and cons and I definately agonized over the decision. I'm just a year older than you. Go with what feels right in your gut. No one else can make this decision for you. All the best!

    Beth11 shared an experience

Procedure or Surgery (Double Mastectomy): Hi, My name is Beth, I'm 44 and was diagnosed with DCIS breast cancer in May 2012. I had a bi-lateral mastectomy with reconstructive surgery on July 31, 2012. I am now in the process of having my implant exchange surgery after Christmas and overall things have gone well. I am definitely comfortable with my decision re: my treatment choice but am finding myself anxious lately with the lack of control over my body, having to have another surgery and feeling alone! I look forward to hearing from others and hope to give back what I can from my experience.
