Radiation (Internal radiation): the radiation that I had was to try to seal off the tumor on the colon as I was bleeding, 4 pints low when I was admitted to the ER. They were unable to stop the bleeding so they gave me the chemo. The doctor told me that the chemo would melt the tumor like warm butter. It did and that is when the perforation happened.

Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): Before I went into surgery I asked the surgeon to avoid a Colostomy, which he did. During the procedure to remove the perforated section of intestine, the doc removed 24 iniches of intestine. Because of the perforation they had to remove all of my organs, clean the organs and the body cavity and put them all back. I had some fever as they fought to prevent infection. I was 18 days in the hospital and went home with what I think they called a "wet vac". Nurses came every 2-3 days to change the dressings.

Oh No (Misdiagnosed): During the Colonoscopy I was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. It was determined after the biopsy results came in that I had a grapefruit size tumor wrapped around the intestine which had grown through the intestine. That is why the doctors thought it was colon cancer.
