PET scan done. Still cannot get a good image of my femur because of so much scar tissue and metal.

Any concerns about the scan? If it helps, over almost 12 years and several clinical trials, I have had 45+ head-to-pelvis CT series, and about 20 PET scans. Survived them all, as well as total body irradiation. As to getting insurance to pay, your doctor's team can exert great influence as far as justifying the scan. If they are a division of MD Anderson, they have ample experience working with various providers. I would hope that they are not allowing you to do their legwork - insurance approvals are within their purview.

My radiation team took care of everything and rushed everything through in 2.5 weeks. I had to gain 20 lbs to have enough fat to survive the radiation treatment.
