This was written by me on March 11th 2014 approximately 15 min after I got the call when she lost her 8 month battle with cancer. Im sharing this because she brought something out in me i never new I had. I have turned it in to a photo for her husband and 3 boys, and 1 will be hanging on my wall. She touched us all, we miss her everyday. My relay for life team EVERYDAY HOPE will be honouring her this year and all our donations will be made in her name.

Drug or Chemo Therapy: Hello all.
Haven't been posting since before christmas but i have been reading all your post, just needed to take a break i think. so heres an update. seen my oncologist last on January 5th 2015, and on that day i heard one of the best things I've heard in a while, i don't need to see you until april 6th,wow 3 months, something i thought i would never hear, after seeing him every month for the past 15 months and doing treatment 5 straight days every month. i was excited to hear that. As some of you may know i was fighting to get a new drug that wasn't approved up here in canada, so i was able to get it through the special access program in July 2014,i was so greatful as there was no options left for me and at $105 a pill taking 3 a day would have cost me almost $10,000 a month. with the determination of myself and my doctor we got approved from the SAP program on the 3rd attempt. I was told by doctors it probably would be 2-5 yrs for approval. as of January 2015 the drug got approved. the drug seems to be working, i still have a few bad days but 80-90% of the the time I'm feeling really good something i haven't felt in a long while. The past 9 yrs have been difficult without saying, starting with neck surgery in 2007 and another in 2008 and then cancer right after 2nd surgery(surgeon found the cancer when doing 2nd surgery) fighting for unapproved drugs, decision making, getting everything in order. It has all made me a stronger person than i ever thought i would be. I owe thanks to all the people who have helped me through this,My wife (my rock) my awesome kids,Oncologist and all the staff at my cancer centre and of course all of you who share your experiences on here. it helps to see others strength and hope.I lost a good friend a year ago march 11th to pancreatic cancer and her battle was short. i made her a promise that i would not stop fighting and i haven't. I feel she is also by my side everyday I wrote from the heart when i got the call and have made it into a photo in her memory, I might share it on the pinboard anyways thats a quick update.
