I feel for your & can relate a bit. I am facing 4th round of chemo next week after leaving the hospital today after a 4 day stay receiving IV antibiotics for some infection. I got sick when my white blood cell counts dropped to zero after last round of chemo. I'll be on 2 weeks of antibiotics at home but little scared to face chemo again next week. I feel like not much of a chance to recuperate. But, I believe that I can get enough rest by Tuesday & face chemo head-on. Perhaps your dad thinks that about his radiation. And, wont they check your dad's blood count Tuesday prior to radiation? They will check mine and hold off on chemo if blood counts are too low. If they aren't planning on checking his blood counts before radiation, perhaps you can request it. Your dad will be in my prayers, you too.

I would ask the people at the radiatiojn treatment center to confirm to you and your dad that the Radiation Oncologist has reviewed the information on your dad's infection before he has treatment. Normally radiation does not impact the ability to fight infections the way chemo does but it is best to be sure that the informatuion has been revoewed by the Dr. Good Luck.

Thank you Vjp2012 and Peroll. That's good information to have going into the radiation. You are both in my thoughts and I wish you the best with your treatment.
