Hi all. I am new here. My mom was recently diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer. She has been doing chemo for 2 months with folfox with good results. Her doctor recommended that we meet with the surgeon today and the outcome was not as pretty as we expected (not that we expected sugar and spice and everything nice). They are recommending that her entire esophagus be removed along with her stomach. Her colon will then be used in place of those organs.
My question: anyone out there have experiences with this extreme of a surgery? Hopefully survivor stories but any advice would be appreciated.
