Thanks for responding..My husband was doing really well until last Tuesday.CT scan on Lungs,MRI on Kidney..
They saw a spot on his kidney where surgery was & said its either fluid from surgery which was 6 months ago or a new cancer cell.2 nodules had grown slightly.
Oncologist paged his surgeon. PET scan Tuesday. No pills or treatment..his little kidney(1/3 ) is doing well.. creatinine levels are stable..All positives until this...

If he carries COBRA from work you can stay on that policy. If you go with ACA then just sign both of you up at the same time. I lost my life insurance when I left work but some companies will let you carry it with you if you pay the full premium. He would have to ask his HR department about that. Get with them on the pension as well. Wishing you the best.

If he gets employer Short Term /Long Term Disability be sure to ask about Life Insurance "Waiver of Premiym". It keeps Life insurance in-house with no premiums required. Every employer handles medical insurance differently for those on STD/LTD. My employer allows people on STD/LTD to stay on employer medical insurance until Medicare is granted. Medicare kicks in 2 yr after SSD begins. But some renal conditions include immediate Medicare (for the individual only, not family). I have extensive experience working in STD/LTD and coordinating that with SSD. Ask me any questions and I'll try to answer!
