Celebration (PSA Result): April '14 PSA down to 0.15. Glad to have it moving in the right direction. I guess that means we were doing radiation in the correct place. Woohoo!

Celebration (PSA Steady): Four months post-radiation PSA is steady at .19. Need to not get too wrapped up in small changes. Everyone seems satisfied that it is steady and not increasing at this point.

Radiation (External radiation (Three dimensional)): 38 treatments ARC Beam radiation focusing on the prostate bed and right seminal vesicle (which were left in during surgery). Fascinating process, and I fortunately had minimal side effects. Completed radiation treatments on June 7, 2013. Now we wait 5-6 weeks and try a PSA.

Oh No (Cancer is back/Recurred ): February '13 PSA was back up to 0.19, retested 4 weeks later, still 0.19. So now I have a referral to radiation to see what we might do next. "Highly unusual, given the pathology" according to my urologist, nonetheless, it seems that we are on that path.

Decision Point (Surgery or radiation): Guided by my excellent nurse navigator, I visited with radiation oncologists (external beam or seed implant) and with a surgeon (DaVinci robotic prostatectomy). Both seem equally good, but everyone seemed to think I was an excellent candidate for the surgery. So, surgery it is!
