Procedure or Surgery (Colon surgery (colectomy or hemicolectomy)): After my colon surgery, I started chemo with a port placement. Was not told not to lift ovr 10 lbs. I moved a picnic table and the port became exposed. Oncologist decided it wasn't necassary for the port as good progress was being made. They started me on a pill form of chemo. After negative results, I switched oncologists and went to Hershey Cancer Center where I had surgery and they removed half of my liver, a little more of my colon and part of my lining of my stomach. Thirteen mo. aga my CAT scan was showing progress, however in the past three months they discovered what they thought all along was scar tissue in my lungs turned out to be cancer.
I am having a difficult time coping with this development. Originally they told me with surgery I would have 6 to 10 yrs. Now they tell me months. It is hard for my wife and I to handle, especially because we have custody of our 2 yr. old grandson. We have had him since day one. They are my reason for fighting this, but lately it is very hard to deal with. I lost a lot of weight, and barely have an appetite.
I need a support group in our area, as I find myself very depressed.
