Side Effects (Anemia (low red blood cell counts)): There are actually three side effects that have managed to interfere with my treatment: low red blood cell counts AND low white blood cell counts, AND low platelet count. Two others, low blood pressure and weight loss are also causing havoc with daily living. The good news is that my oncologist is able to give me a shot of whatever med it is to raise the cell counts enough so I can get a dose of chemo, albeit on a delayed basis. The low blood pressure causes lightheadedness and dizziness and makes me think twice before driving my car, and the considerable weight loss leaves one quite fatigued and weak. BUT....the chemo IS WORKING! It's just that it's working on the good guys as well as the bad! My doctor is cutting back on the chemo dose so that I won't have to be skipping entire treatments every week or two weeks.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): My cancer of unknown origin was originally diagnosed as endometrial cancer, but a followup PET scan prompted my doctor to change it to peritoneal carcinoma. The good news is that the PScan showed that some of the cancerous lymph nodes have all but disappeared! I don't know anything yet about this type of cancer but I'll probably have qq after I do some research.
