Since cancer generally is lifestyle more than genetic (other than BRCA), you should feel confident that you won't pass on a cancer gene to your children. There are many illnesses that are genetic and can be passed down to our children. But, most people don't know anything about their family health history when they have their children. I understand you're concerned about living long enough to raise your children, and that is a legitimate concern. Maybe, some counseling would help you make a decision you can live with.

Hi i just read your post im sorry so many people around you are having to battle cancer. The same thing is happening to me in my life. It's like an epidemic. I had thyroid cancer in 2008 and was thyroid cancer free in 2009 and have been since. Papillary carcinoma is one off the only cancers out there with an absolute cure!!!! please feel great full that is what you have and only what you have. I was just diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma and i wish every day that i had handled my thyroid diagnoses with more grace because i would have a little more fight in me now for this melanoma. Best of luck and much love -Bria
