Continuing to take the Arimidex but wasn't comfortable with my treatment doc so I have an appointment with another doc this week....maybe this doc will have read my records before he sees me....and maybe he'll understand that its my body and my decision and yes it is all about me.

Procedure or Surgery (Double Mastectomy): August 2012...double mastectomy together with the first part of reconstruction inplants, injection in expanders every two or three weeks, the second half of reconstruction to be completed in three months. I had no idea what to expect. I knew it was a big deal and expected discomfort and sizable recovery time but this is much more than I anticipated.

I had the very same things done....HER2, Stage 1A....had a double mastectomy and expanders/reconstruction. Started chemo...six treatments of TCH three weeks a part and then Herceptin every three weeks for a year. I have six Herceptin treatments left and have had to have them suspended becuase I had an underlying heart problem that manifested with the Herceptin. Once they get the heart problem under control with meds I will start back with the treatmens. I had the last reconstructive surgery, implants put in, three months after my last big chemo treatment. They would not let me have the surgery sooner. That was in May and they are still not right. Have an appointment this week with my plastic surgeon and I am sure they are going to have to tweak some things. So upset to be having another surgery.
Are you having any treatments? If not the recovery time will be so much easier. It is a very difficult journey and the treatments were not as bad as I was told, but they were very difficult. Not an easy time. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. If I can answer any questions just let me know. Things do get better.
