It's celebration time! Five years ago today, on 8/23/12, I was being wheeled into an operating room for my hysterectomy. I was ultimately diagnosed with stage IV endometrial cancer. Stats at the time said I had a 15% chance of typing these words today. I want to celebrate w/all my friends here @ What Next. You've been a lifeline for me. And there are lots of people we've lost, who I miss terribly. I do hope I'm doing a good job of paying my gratitude forward. And that I'll be here to pester y'all w/my sarcastic humor for many, many years to come! So mote it be!!

Something important to keep in mind. Little things, like little kitties, can be very important.

Well, looks like we lost another icon to cancer. Roger Moore, aka James Bond (the 3rd one, I believe).

This story was in our local paper the other day. A henna artist volunteers time and materials to provide really cool henna crowns to ladies who've lost their hair due to chemo. This is from the Columbus Dispatch. http://www.dispatch.com/news/20170501/artists-apply-henna-designs-on-patients-who-have-lost-hair

Our local meteorologist was just diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. One of the anchors on the same station completed treatment for breast cancer in the last year. And the station lost another reporter to breast cancer a few years ago (Heather Pick). Wonder if there is some weird connection there to the TV station...

Ok, things are weird in the world right now, so I'm sharing a picture of my kitty, Ruskin.

Another celebrity succumbs to cancer -- Miguel Ferrer, who was cousin to George Clooney and costarred in such things as NCIS: Los Angeles & Crossing Jordan, passed away. I've seen another article that suggests it was throat cancer. He was looking kinda ragged on this season of NCIS.

I was never much of a nap person before treatment. But the Saturday after every chemo, I was generally in bed sleeping most of the day.

Today, this has many meanings. May it help you persevere whatever darkness you are facing today. This comes from The Lord of the Rings, for those who may not know.

See, even kitties meditate? Geekling, thought especially of you. This is a kitty after your own heart. Namaste.
