Other Care (Home care): We are desperate to find help for our brother!! He is at home and we are trying to care for him ourselves. The medication and diabetes are brutal. We need assistance at meal times for administering his meds and insulin!! Please forward any help you can give us. The hospital said something about a nurse coming to his house but of course they never persued or followed up on that and we don't know how to proceed. I am sure he qualifies We cant afford to have a live in and I am hoping the ACS will help as well as the hospital Hospice Thank you in advance for your help

Hello. With a stage IV pancreatic cancer, if the doctor has given a six month prognosis, your brother would qualify for Hospice care, and they will work with you regardless of ability to pay. You go through the doctor to order that. For Hospice care, they are concerned with keeping him comfortable, managing pain, but the goals are different. You stop working towards a cure of the disease, and work towards end-of-life care.

Hey buttercup, I'm sorry things are so tough. Keeping up with medicine for cancer is difficult, let alone add insulin shots in as well! I'd suggest getting in contact with a social worker at your brother's hospital or oncology office. He or she may be able to connect you with the right people because getting this set up may differ depending on how your brother's health insurance will handle starting home health visits. If insurance says no... fight fight because your brother deserves the care :) Best wishes
