I'm 68 with your diagnosis. I was told there would be a lumpectomy, followed by 5 to 6 wks. of radiation and then chemo pill for 1 year. They did not seem worried about the estrogen and progesterone levels. Keeping you in my prayers, buttons

I take an anti-hormone pill to stop the growth of the nodules (endometrial) that are in my lungs. My cousin who had breast cancer surgery is taking the same med.

Please ask your oncologist this question! Have a good talk with him or her about your estrogen and ask to have everything explained. My oncologist did that for me, he gave me a whole lesson on it! And he is the director of my cancer center, and if he has time to do this- they all do! Of course me being me, I didn’t understand it all but at least I did tape record it. ;-)
But generally I think that 0 to .5 or 5 is safe (?) however they measure it. It is an easy blood test and one that needs to be done regularly if you are have a cancer that feeds off of estrogen and/or if you are on AI’s to control it. But if it is over the safe level, something must be done to control it, that I know for sure. They used to think that patients could be on Tamoxifen ( others as well ) for 5 years after treatment now they think 10 and many oncologist keep patients on them for life which is actually the safest. Because cancer can come back decades later, and it does all the time. UGH!
Your age really isn’t much of an issue because us women produce estrogen in many areas of our bodies our whole lives, obviously this decreases a lot during and after menopause and after hysterectomies. But darn estrogen is still there being produced in our bodies forever!
My oncologist checks my estrogen level monthly, I'm post menopause and I have had a full hysterectomy with ovaries out and the whole works. But I need to be on not one, but two hormone blockers! I’m on Arimidex pill daily and the Flosomax injections monthly, and that combination plus diet ( which is very important but another conversation ) has kept my estrogen level at 0.
Take care and good luck with this! God bless!
