My husband was on Zytiga and it worked for 18 mos. He is now on Xtandi which is in the same family of meds as Zytiga. The first month on Xtandi his PSA went from 26 to 8. Once the Xtandi stops working he will have to go on chemo as there currently are no more options we know of.

Yes he had 3 hours of vestibular (ear) testing and does not have diabetes. Can you think of anything else?

I don’t have any answers for you, but I think it helps to know that we are heard. I’m also stage IV prostate cancer patient (Gleason 5+4=9, castrate resistant) currently on Zytiga w/ Prednisone. They took me off Lupron Depot (Eligard) when my cancer mutated around that blockade and they then considered my cancer refractory. Statistically, my body could reject my current treatment any time in the next six months. They’ve already told me that I will not be given Xtandi (Enzalutamide) as I would fail it immediately. It will be clinical trials, or chemo for 18 months and then into hospice care. I haven’t experienced diziness, only increased frequency and severity of my hot flashes. God bless you as you move forward with all of this!

Scooter - his Zytiga worked for 19 months. He was told he will be on Eligard (similar to Lupron) for the rest of his life - every 3 months. His Gleason score was 9. Prostate removed in Nov 2014.
How did they find your cancer had mutated around the Lupron blockade? One oncol. does not think Xtandi will work because it is in the same family of drugs as Zytiga but a 2nd and 3rd opinion have had very good results with Xtandi and suggested to try that before chemo. The 1st oncol. expects the PSA to lower and he would be able to get off chemo. His hot flashes are next to none.
