Hi Catellen, if first round chemo consisted of a platinum drug, then you are probably what they call , platinum resistant. Your onchologist will come up with a different game plan, there are many arrows in the quiver including the possible profiling of your tumor to match a specific treatment as mentioned by Mika. Clinical trials are a possibility , but some may require several failed attempts at treatment by your onchologist before you are eligible.

This is complex..There are so many many tools in the tool box now just like others have said. But this is for your Onc to discuss with you..Make sure to consider additional opinions from other Oncologists. So don't hesitate to get those too.

Tumor profiling is critical ..very important to get that done so they can see what could work for you. Sometimes adding radiation tot he chemo makes them both work better too. Many different applications available. Just make sure you are doing every thing you can to get the best treatments..this is on you....you need to take charge and get additional opinions from expert in Ovarian Cancer from a big name Cancer center.

I agree with the others here. Ask your oncologist, get second, third, more medical opinions, research this on your own, and take it all in. Write your questions down before you visit the doctor and write the answers down too. It will help you later when you could get a bit vague on the details.

On the other hand, I don't see anything here on why you think the chemo isn't working. I know I had a LARGE tumor and had nine weeks of dose-dense weekly chemo when I was completely miserable. Once I had the debulking surgery, I felt much better. Then I had nine more weeks of dose-dense chemo. Then maintenance chemo. Don't expect big changes right at the beginning of treatment.

Please keep us posted and let us know how you're doing. We care.
