Drug or Chemo Therapy (Pain medicine): Once my pain started to increase the doctor put me on a narcotics patch, which made me a little dizzy at first but my body adjusted to it. He started with 12 mg and then doubled it to 2 patches almost right away. Sometimes I have to augment with Ibuprofen and definitely take Ibuprofen PM at bedtime.

Radiation (External radiation ): The radiation itself is painless. 14 treatments daily on weekdays. The treatments take less than 10 min. Getting on and off the table was the part that was hard for me because of where my cancer is in my spine, and laying on the table exacerbated my pain, especially at first, but as the treatments continued my pain levels went down.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Hormonal Therapy - Flasodex): I had been on an oral aromatase inhibitor, Letrozole, but upon this new diagnosis, my oncologist began a 2 week protocol of the hormonal therapy Flasodex to shut down the estrogen receptors in my cells. The hot flashes have gotten a little worse, and the needles for this shot are large and a little painful - 2 shots every to weeks for 3 series and then monthly.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Bone strengthening drugs): I had started getting Prolia shots for osteoporosis in June 2014 on a 6 months protocol but was immediately switched to month shots of Xgeva. These are small needle shots and painless, but I have to go to the doctor's office to get them each month.
