My wife and i formed the Esophageal Cancer Education Foundation (ECEF) www.fightec.org in 2003 to in part help patients journey through this disease.

We have conference call support groups that meet once a month in the evening for an hour. You simply call into a number we will give you. The call is made up of patients and caregivers in the same situation as you are in.

If you are interested in this type of support please go to our web site above and hit the JOIN button, (no charge for any of our services) and click on support groups or you can send me an email at [email redacted]

    Take care

When I was going through the chemo, radiation and surgery for esophageal cancer I came up with a saying that has been embedded in me for the 16 years since my surgery and that is, "God sits on my right shoulder and there is nothing that He and I together can’t handle."

Take time each day, maybe 15 minutes, to just be quiet, clear your mind, close your eyes and let God talk to you. We are concerned about our future mainly because we don’t know what that future is about.

We do not have any control over the future and the past is the past but we do have control over this moment. Live that moment to the fullest. A positive attitude which is sometimes hard to have is at the core of your current moment. See God as a companion, someone who will walk with you for all time.
