Other Care (breast reconstuction): breast reconstruction was a long process. because i had to do radiation they wouldnt do reconstruction until i had healed from all my treatments. i have a wonderful plastic surgeon. first we had to put in expanders to make skin, then they put the implants in. after that they built nipples. and last but not least they tatooed an auriola. sounds like it may have been painful, but there was not to much pain. now i feel somewhat normal. i do have some issues because i know whats on my chest isnt real. i am greatful for all my doctors. they were awesome...

Radiation (External radiation ): radiation was a cake walk compared to surgery an chemo. i took twenty eight treatments.. monday thru friday every day til i was done. i was a bit cooked. my right side was worse because the cancer was on that side. there is a permanent tan on that side.

Hello, Cindi. My hair has been slowly coming back since about April. My hair was brown ( I called it "mousy" brown) and it is coming back blace and wavy (previously straight as a stick). I read that it will eventually come back in your normal color once all the hair follicle cells are back and well. It is just good to have hair - whatever color and texture.

Procedure or Surgery (Breast Reconstruction (Implant)): the impact of having a double mastectomy didnt hit me til i was able to ge t out an about. then i was mortified an tried everything i could do to hide the fact that i didnt have breast.
