Definitely get a second and even third opinion. My oncologist gave me very little hope initially. My colon surgeon was more optimistic and thought we should get a liver surgeon involved. Oncologist didn't think we should bother with that unless we saw major results from the chemo. I went back and got the referral from my colon surgeon. I am happy to say that we have seen major results from the chemo and the internal radiation the liver surgeon recommended. Tomorrow I will finish six months of chemo and then getting a break from it as the liver surgeon thinks I am ready for liver resection. I have tolerated the chemo very well with only minor side effects and have worked full time through out. What I am trying to say is....it's too soon to give up. Put on your fighting boots, both of you hold your head high and get ready to fight! I have been married to my dear husband for 38 years and my biggest fear was leaving him. He recently lost most of his sight and he needs me. I give him credit for how well I am doing. He keeps me upbeat and going. Hugs me when I need it and isn't afraid to give me some tuff love when I need it. You two can be each other's advocate and shoulder to lean on. Fight! We will all be hear to help.

Words cannot describe how I feel for you and your husband right now. Life at times seems so unfair! I can't even imagine the roller coaster of emotions you both must be feeling. I agree with everything LilyMadeline said, and most importantly get a 2nd opinion. May God provide you comfort and peace and give the drs the knowledge to help your husband.

All of your encouraging words mean the world to me. I just need so a glimmer of hope to hang onto. I know he'll never be cured, but I sure would love a few more years with him. As I write this I'm in the wAiting room while he gets his PET scan. Thank you so much for the support, it makes sitting here by myself much more bearable.

I'm sorry for the 2nd dx in your family. I hope you will be able to support each other through your treatments. Just keep remembering how many of us obnoxious, er, supportive people are out here, rooting both of you on. And how long some of these folks have been cancer free. Hope you'll both get to that point.
