Coco. I think we are in the same place mouth-wise. At this time my teeth just stubble. My jaw and facial bones were damaged by an abusive marriage. I had a dentist from XXX who caused me to have an abscessed tooth and I had to have dental surgery. I was having my teeth removed as absolutely needed by a dental surgeon when I was diagnosed with cancer. I have had an esophagectomy so I am at risk to aspirate. The Dr.s will not do knee replacement surgery as long as there is infection in my mouth. I have wanted to keep what few teeth I have as long as possible as dentures or implants are out of reach financially. Once surgery is done I will be on a liquid diet. I haven't talked to my Dr. about it but I am thinking of a feeding tube after I have the surgery.

Please be sure to run this all by your Onc before you undertake this dental surgery. Good luck.

All my Dr.s agree that the chronic infection in my mouth is life-threatening but I can't afford to have it fixed as it is not covered by insurance. And would cost my entire income over three years.

I certainly understand what you mean! As if our Cancer treatments aren't enough to bankrupt us! BTW, do you know there are some private foundations that might help you with your co-pays? If you are unaware, feel free to take a look at PatientAccessNetwork.org

Look at that cute little "bug" doggie - yup, we're not crazy... we have our priorities straight. You dog looks like a little darling, so sweet and looks well behaved - for the picture at least! We love our dogs. Mine is the boss of our house, all 9 lbs. of her! She's 15 now and holding up pretty good, though her back legs are stiff and sometimes it looks like she's hopping. We are giving her Glucosamine and Chondroitin and 1/2 of a baby aspirin every other day to help her be comfortable. We lover her to death... when she does go, we'll be in mourning here... Don't laugh.

Hi! Oh, no, I'm not laughing at all! : ) Yes, our Murphy is a good boy though a tad spoiled. Okay, a lot spoiled. I've told my husband that I want to go before Murphy does because I don't know if I can handle it when he goes. He's our son. I didn't realize you could get so attached to a dog - but I sure am! And so is my husband. : )
