Procedure or Surgery (colonoscopy and biopsies): Had a colonoscopy and biopsy's. The surgeon wasn't concerned and didn't find anything to worry about. The oncologist insisted on getting biopsies due to the last pet scan lighting up. The doctor took nine biopsies and found a polyp which he also biopsied.

Got the results yesterday and still cancer free.

    Hello,
I read your journey and you've certainly have had a rough road. The same thing happened to me with them saying hemeroids. Problem was by the time they realized it wasn't it grew to 7 cm and stage 3. I also read your answer to my question and I wanted to tell you your picture reminds me of my best friend, and that your answer was very helpful. I'm seeing my doctor this coming Friday (again) for a colonoscopy along with a biopsy and I will definitely speak to him about what you suggested. I see your page says diagnosed over 11 years ago? Are you still having problems, I hope that isn't too personal or presumptive of me to ask. I am going on a year at the end of June this year and although I am not sure if I now have a recurrance or not (I'll find out Friday) I was noticing alot of commonoloties in yours and my diagnoses and treatments. Again, I hope this is not to forward or anything and I hope to hear from you if you don't mind.
    Lillian

Latest Pet scan came back lit up in the canal where the tumor originated last year. Went to the colorectal surgeon and he doesn't seem worried, however they are sending me for another biopsy as well as another colonoscopy at the same time.

    I figure two things:
    1. If it is Cancer again hopefully we caught it early enough this time.
    2. I'll have a definitive answer either way as to whether or not I should worry.
For now, I'm trying not to worry until I have to. Hopefully I won't have to. Just a sidenote the surgeon doesn't think its anything to worry about.

I love the PET scans, for this reason. It finds stuff that 15 years ago would not have been found. So that is a bright spot in what is usually a dim situation. Hoping the best for you.

Just had a pet scan last week, the same area where the tumor was lit up. The oncologist wants me to see the colorectal doctor for a biopsy. I already had a follow up appt with him for the 21st. I asked her if I should make it sooner and she said no that's fine. I'm not sure if the cancer is back again or not at this point, but I am scared and worried. I know there isn't much I can do until I get the biopsy and results but I had such a rough time the first round I am really not looking forward to another. I pray the biopsy is negative but due to some issues I've been having I fear it will be positive again. I only hope that we caught it early this time around and hope that maybe this time they can remove it with surgery.

The waiting is tough, the worry is tough, not knowing drives you batty. But I try to not worry about it until I have something to worry about. I just assume that every test is going to be clean, and there is a reason for everything that I think is causing me a problem. And you know what, most of the time it is clean and the problem is something else. So think happy thoughts, and we wish you clean scans and another reason your having issues.
